Albatross is the first we have heard from Sweden’s dreampop act Star Horse since the excellent Slower Now single released back in 2015. It’s worth the wait as Albatross soars across the skies as the song shines, having an almost spiritual feel over the course of it’s eight and a half minutes “flight”. I mentioned Star Horse and their excellent Slower Now single last month. It’s now had the remix treatment courtesy of Thunberg and LTZA. Both mixes concentrate on the vocals which stood out on the original and highlight them to great effect. The former is upbeat, almost dancey in places but it’s the latter remix I prefer which drifts in and out of ambient/film score territory resulting in a dreamy and atmospheric feel. Nice melodic shoegaze from Sweden that draws comparisons from The Cocteau Twins to Slowdive. There is a lot of this about at present but rather than being a pale imitation Star Horse take these influences and turn them into something lovely especially on Slower Now with singer/guitarist Maja’s vocals standing out.
