Flowers – Pull My Arm

Flowers released their second album Everybody’s Dying To Meet You this past Friday and mighty fine it is too. Currently Pull My Arm, which almost did not make the cut, is my favourite track (those vocals!) but it’s early days! The band are currently touring in support of the album and I will see you at the Sebrights in March! Everybody’s Dying To Meet You is out now on Fortuna Pop. Records I Like Tracks Of The Year 2014 – 5 to 1

Tracks 10 to 6 can be found here. The countdown continues…….. 5. The Radio Dept. – Death to Fascism The Radio Dept. only seem to release songs these days when there is a general election in their native Sweden. Death To Fascism is their response to the rise of the extreme right in Sweden and features chants of Smrt fašizmu, sloboda narodu over what sounds like a remix of The Jesus and Mary Chain’s Reverence. You can download the song for free from Soundcloud. 4. The Wendy Darlings – Bobby Darin Taken from the album The Insufferable Fatigues of Idleness … Continue reading Records I Like Tracks Of The Year 2014 – 5 to 1

Flowers – Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do

My main worry with Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do was that it would be way too over produced /polished (by Bernard Butler) but thankfully that’s not the case despite their previous fuzzy guitar sound being muted somewhat. Rachel Kenedy’s vocals are as ethereal as ever and on parts send shivers down your spine. This album deserves your attention at least once. It gets mine more. Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do is out now. Buy from Fortuna Pop (UK/EU) or Kanine Records (US) Facebook Continue reading Flowers – Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do

September Round-Up

Blimey – where has the month gone? I know I have been busy at work but. Anyway here is a round up of what I have been listening too these past few weeks. And if you want to listen whilst you read (or just listen) here is a Minlogs playlist covering tracks from this post. I am sure you have heard it already but if not The Radio Dept. released their first single in four years Death to Fascism at the beginning of the month to coincide with the Swedish general election. Mighty fine it is too (as well as … Continue reading September Round-Up

Flowers – Joanna

Here is another track taken from Flower’s debut album Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do which is due out next month. New single Joanna was originally released last year on Oddbox Records and whilst this version a bit more polished thankfully it does not lose much of it’s rawness. Indeed Rachel’s voice is stunningly brought to the fore! Joanna is out later this month as a limited edition 7″ single. The album will be out on Fortuna Pop (UK/EU) and Kanine Records (US) on September 8th & 9th. Facebook Continue reading Flowers – Joanna

Flowers – Young

Young is taken from Flowers forthcoming debut album Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do which is due out in early September on Fortuna Pop (UK/EU) and Kanine Records (US). A lovely, lovely song and I cannot wait to hear the rest. You can buy Young digitally from Bandcamp. EDIT: A nice interview with band member Rachel can be found at DOA – adequacy.net Facebook Continue reading Flowers – Young

Flowers – More Demos

Whilst you wait for their next release you catch catch up on Flowers progress by listening to a new batch of demos they have uploaded to their bandcamp page. Tracks like Never See This Place Again and Shy sound great in demo form which just makes you wionder how much better they can be if they ever record them “properly”. Londoners can catch them playing an acoustic set at the Betsey Trotwood for the Big Pink Cake’s Christmas Party on the 14th December. Facebook Continue reading Flowers – More Demos
