Pinkshinyultrablast – Ravestar Supreme

Russian shoegazers Pinkshinyultrablast release a new single on March 30th via Club AC30. Ravestar Supreme is taken from their excellent Everything Else Matters long player and is backed with a Ledaux remix of the same track. It will available on 7″ vinyl and digital formats and you can pre-order it here. Here is another remix of the track by RxGibbs. Hopefully this one will turn up in the digital release. The Debutantes – Adams Apples

The Debutantes self titled cassette was one of the highlights of last year. It has long since sold out but don’t despair as two of the tracks will be released as a 7″ single next month (and you get four of the five in an accompanying digital version). Excellent noise pop. Those over the pond can buy it from Emotional Response Records. UK/EU Buyers can get it from Piccadilly Records or Rough Trade. Facebook Soundcloud Continue reading The Debutantes – Adams Apples

Beach Youth – Waves and Memories

After being blown away by their track Days which appears on the American Sole compilation I conclude that French indie poppers Beach Youth certainly sound like a combination of The Lodger and Bricolage with hints of Postcard era Orange Juice thrown in for good measure. However regardless of who their sound reminds me of they make cracking tunes and a bit of digging reveals two more tracks. Waves is taken from a compilation entitled Citrus City Vol 1 which has been put together by Virginian DIY label Citrus City Records. You can get the compilation here. And a Soundcloud search … Continue reading Beach Youth – Waves and Memories

Intenna – Thirst

I briefly mentioned Indonesian shoegazers Intenna as part of the post on Revolution – The Shozegaze Revival. Their contribution Flowery was impressive to these ears and I decided to try and find out a bit more. I found out that Flowery was originally released as part of a split cassette single back in January 2014. Also on that tape was another effort (and the only other track of theirs I can find) entitled Thirst. It’s a soothing shoegazey instrumental track that is just the thing for a lazy Sunday afternoon! Yo can download the split EP for free/pay what you … Continue reading Intenna – Thirst

Various Artists – American Sole

I have been intrigued by Plastic Fish Records since coming across Colour of Spring’s debut release. It’s a Leeds based label and I have come across a compilation they released back in October 2014 which highlights bands from home, across the pond and Europe. It’s worth a listen and the Beach Youth track is bloody amazing! Strangely it is not available on Bandcamp (please!) and is only available for purchase via i-tunes at time of writing. You can stream it at Spotify as well. Facebook Soundcloud Continue reading Various Artists – American Sole

The Fireworks – Switch Me On

It’s been out for a couple of weeks now and it’s a cracker setting the benchmark for all other album releases this year. From opener With My Heart via the brilliant single Runaround to the closing track it’s a glorious way to spend 37 and a bit minutes. That means I get to play it twice on my journey into work! Get it from Rough Trade (UK) or Shelflife Records (US) Photo by Pierre Delpino taken at the bands recent launch show at Rough Trade East.
