Enids – Worriers

Enids hail from København and make punk inspired diy tweepop. There are four songs on this EP and none make the 2 minute mark being brash, fuzzy and noisy. Now that’s the type of music I love! Imagine The Ramones being on the C86 tape being fronted by The Flatmates Debbie Haynes. Play loud! It’s out digitally here whilst cassette formats will follow on Funeral Tapes and Rusted Teeth. Eternal Something – Realm//Zone EP

We heard nowt from Eternal Something in 2018 but now they are back at the start of 2019 with this incredibly listenable EP. Comprising four tracks of dreampop/nugaze that sits somewhere between Pinkshinyultrablast and Fawns of Love the songs swoop and swirl around the listeners consciousness. The guitars shimmer whilst the drumming and programming is excellent suiting the ethereal vocals down to the ground none more so than on Voice. It’s powerful and enchanting music. Grab a copy for free (or pay what you want) from here. Facebook Continue reading Eternal Something – Realm//Zone EP

No Fucks – Estrellas

The excellent “band with a name you should never google at work” No Fucks return with a new single. It’s the first to be lifted from their forthcoming debut album and is backed with a non album track Sleepaway Camp. Both are fine examples of the punkpop that endeared me to them in the first place. The album will be out next month but until then pick up the single via Discos De Kirlian. Facebook Continue reading No Fucks – Estrellas

The Hermits – Ruby Red Summer

Ruby Red Summer was originally released back in 2017 on the band’s tour tape and is now going to be released as part of the band’s debut album. It’s a track that transcends boundaries and mixes indiepop, garage and krautrock which is a far better selection than the Pick N’ Mix at your local store. The self titled debut album is released next month on Austin Town Hall Records. Pre-order it from here. Faceboook Continue reading The Hermits – Ruby Red Summer

Crystalline – Repeat Repetition

Southend-On-Sea based Crystalline is the project of one Nicholas Cook and Repeat Repetition is his debut. The EP consists of four songs that crosses the divide between 1980’s indie, jangle pop and post punk. You only have to look at the stunning artwork to pick that vibe up! Cook’s vocals are reminiscent of the late Pete Shelly’s none more so than on opener Perfect Bronze as he scowls his way through the song. If guitar based post-punk is your thing than give this DIY EP a listen pronto. Facebook Continue reading Crystalline – Repeat Repetition

Cold – Disasters

Disasters seems to be the debut release from German post-punk band Cold. Opener The Evil Moon is the ideal track to grab your attention fusing fuzzy guitars and female vocals to great effect. There is a brief interlude with 37 seconds of what sounds like noises in a haunted cellar in the shape of //////////////////// before it’s followed by Ashes. That too is an attention grabbing track which, like The Evil Moon before it, is due to the way the singer sings supplementing the power-pop/punk pop guitars and pounding drums. Both tracks are easily retained in the listener’s memory. That … Continue reading Cold – Disasters

Funeral Advantage – Black House

Funeral Advantage release their new EP/mini album Nectarine next month and Black House is the first track to be lifted from it. I am not sure if the track is fully representative of the rest of the new album as it’s sound has moved significantly away from 2017’s guitar driven Please Help Me whilst Black House is a tasty slab of synth driven dreampop (surely gloompop!). Who knows what the new album will bring but for now I am enjoying this one. You can pre-order Nectarine from here. Homepage Continue reading Funeral Advantage – Black House

Spoon God – Dead Hipsters

French act Spoon God have been around for a few years now and this brand new EP seems to be their first release since 2014. They make music which transcends genres and on this EP you can hear everything from drone to Krautrock or alt-rock to post-punk. I must confess I found some of the tracks hard to get into at first but there are some here that grow worthy of your ears attention such as the coldwave inspired The Real Thrill (666 Queer Cult) and Seventeen which slow burns with pulsing guitars. However the title track stands out for … Continue reading Spoon God – Dead Hipsters
