Distant Light – Coldwave, Darkwave, Post-Punk, Goth-Rock and Minimal Synth Vol 3

Another does of post-punk, coldwave, minimal synth and dark wave for your listening pleasure. Some excellent tracks here especially the releases from French label Unknown Pleasures which I will have to feature more of at some point! It will be a bit quiet around here over the next few weeks as holidays beckon so head to the Playmoss or Records I Like Playlists site for more tuneage until I return. Blossom Cherry Bloom Sleep – A Records I Like Playlist (July 2017 #04)

I am not sure if Playmoss is making me lazy or if it’s given me the chance to post more music that grabs me more than normal. I certainly post tracks which impress me even if the rest of that band’s output doesn’t have much of an impact on my ears. That is something I wouldn’t do previously. Anyway I will let you decide. Given that this is the fourth playlist this month July has been a cracking month for music discoveries all round and here is a selection of jangle pop, indiepop, dreampop, shoegaze and alt-rock for your listening … Continue reading Blossom Cherry Bloom Sleep – A Records I Like Playlist (July 2017 #04)

Sometimes – A Records I Like Playlist (July 2017 #3)

A playlist covering the latest in indiepop, shoegaze, dreampop, riot grrl, garage and more. Plenty to listen out for here. The latest demo by Jetstream Pony is sublime and I purchased everything by Hiki based on hearing Closer for the first time. Honeyrude are new to me as well and their track The Color Blue has been a regular play this month alongside Alvvays and The Autumn Sighs. Enjoy! Still no fillers here or it just be comprised of those four tracks! Continue reading Within Your Reach – A Records I Like Playlist (July 2017 #1)

Records I Like – Songs of 2013 (Part Two 1 – 5)

It’s time for Part two of what has grabbed my ears more than most in 2013 and given this blog has now been going for a year this list is pretty apt! Both The Fireworks and Zipper produce joyous pop moments which remind me why I love indiepop in the first place. Girl One and The Grease Guns have been a revelation and a fourth single in less than a year is due soon. Political indiepop is on the wane but thankfully the likes of The Occasional Flickers remember how it’s done. Finally I not really a great fan of … Continue reading Records I Like – Songs of 2013 (Part Two 1 – 5)

Songs of 2013 – Your Choices

I have always enjoyed reading other peoples end of year lists such as Not Unloved and Trip TV for instance both of which feature choices new to me. I guess that’s why I like lists so much plus it’s also an easy way to generate another Spotify playlist! Anyway to prove that some people may actually read (or glance) at this blog what were your favourite tracks of 2013? Let me know in the comments. Image from here. Records I Like – Songs of 2013 (Part One 10 – 6)

It’s that time of year again and I thought I would try and list my 10 favourite tracks of 2013. Y’ know the ones that are on constant repeat or the ones that stick in the brain whether it’s due to the vocals, melodies, political content or that they just scream pop at ya. There have been a number that did not make this list but just rummage through the blog to find others that have impressed me greatly. You may like them too. Or not as the case maybe but that is what Records I like is about. Anyway … Continue reading Records I Like – Songs of 2013 (Part One 10 – 6)
