The Death Of Pop have released a limited edition cassette of some of their previous recordings recorded live last month for Cassette Store Day. They say “It was recorded live on the 26th August 2013 using a 4-track cassette recorder and has been mastered straight to cassette with no digital conversion.” £5 will get you one of 30 tapes plus a digital downlaod in the format of your choice. The Occasional Flickers – Capitalism Begins at Home

I must admit that the Occasional Flickers had fallen off my radar since 2007’s “When The Sky Looks So Gray” single. The band were founded by Greek born Giorgos Bouras and are now based in Edinburgh. You can hear some of Scotlands musical influences here. I am not gonna mention any bands as that will constitute a review suffice to say this one of the finest pieces of indiepop I have heard this year. Flowers – Until You’re Dead EP

This week has seen the first release on Fortuna Pop from the ever wonderful Flowers. The band have signed to Kanine Records stateside so hopefully a US release will follow for fans across the pond. Until then buy it here. You can also get it digitally from the likes of Rough Trade. Stuck is the third song from the single and just features singer Rachel singing alone somewhat ethereally with just a one string bass for company. The Flatmates – You Held My Heart

Indiepop legends The Flatmates, albeit with a new line up, release their first single in 23 years on 24th August. Entitled You Held My Heart it’s backed with One Lass Kiss and is available on 7″ via the Archdeacon Of Pop Records. As for that revised line up the band now comprise of original members Martin (guitar) and Rocker (keyboards) as well as newcomers Lisa (vocals), Verity (bass) and Brian (Drums).
