The Gory Alices describes themselves as “a horror punk and surf rock band”. Despite only forming earlier this year Swimsuit Aliens is their second EP and leads on from their debut, the 21st Century Cosmic Freak Show EP. Special Friend – Low Tide

Low Tide is taken from the forthcoming self titled EP from Special Friend. It’s a mix of garage and indie rock which already makes it mark just as the psych influenced guitars start to make some noise. There is another track, Before, also available for streaming which merges garage and 1960’s influenced indiepop together for maximum effect. eGGs – eGGs

eGGs are a Parisian indiepop four piece and this is their second release, with the same name, also on Howlin Banana Records! There are two tracks. The first A Certain Smile has more hooks than a fishing competition, mixing indie pop with psychedelia and then some. The chorus, as with the vocals throughout, is/are addictive listening. Swim Team – Everyday Things

Earlier this year former Stone Rose frontman Ian Brown morphed into Primal Scream on his comeback single First World Problems. On their new song Melbourne’s Swim Team sing about the same subject but deliver it in a slyly humorous way. The Hermits – Ruby Red Summer

Ruby Red Summer was originally released back in 2017 on the band’s tour tape and is now going to be released as part of the band’s debut album. It’s a track that transcends boundaries and mixes indiepop, garage and krautrock which is a far better selection than the Pick N’ Mix at your local store. Bobkat’65 – Four Times a Fool / Pain Everynight

Bobkat’65 are a Spanish trio obsessed by all things American 1960’s Teen Beat/Garage and you would be hard not to believe it when presented with the evidence here (hear?)! Two slices of very cool and retro sounding girl band influenced music that should be on at least one of your mixtapes. It’s enough for me to start exploring their back catalogue pronto.
