The Taiwanese shoegaze band The Giraffe Told Me in My Dream are back with their second EP and almost five years after their first.
Velvet Distortion is a four track EP which features shimmering and ethereal shoegaze populated by sometimes hazy vocals. Tracks like Shallow and Glimpse doth their caps to My Bloody Valentine and the early years of shoegaze thanks to their distortion.
Blurry, which coincidentally is the clearest track of the four, brings the keyboards out of their shell and finishes with a motoring guitar sound. Final track Before shifts between the loudness scale and is a cracking way to close. A great EP which should be in any shoegazer’s library.
