Four dark post-punk songs that could sound just as good whether you play them through your headphones or hear them at your local post-punk club. Let’s find out what other sites or the bands say about these songs.
Ash Code – Living For The Sound
“We wrote this song right after spending a night at a local goth club,” says Claudia Nottebella. “In my mind, the strobe lights and pounding music blurred reality, bringing passion and creation together. I imagined a mix of sensual intimacy and the process of making music, connected to the idea of pregnancy, turning that night into the beginning of something new.” (via Post-Punk.Com)
Ductape – Blue Black
Through a transformative lens of vulnerability and resilience, powerful vocals of haunted longing hover above sadly humming, sonorous bass pulses and slashing marching beats, while evocative overlayings of ceremonial glowing synths, angsty, glistening guitar melodies and dire melancholic bleeds rain down with warm emotional intensity. Dlina Volny – Dance Me Away
The band write “A relentless, industrial pulse drives Dance Me Away, a post-punk anthem about the seductive lure of a Sirena. The track captures the tension of desire and danger, like a train that won’t stop.”
Vera Gloom – Hollow Mind
The debut single from new act Vera Gloom who first appeared on last months Fluid Ghost release Songs I. Unsurprisingly Fluid Ghost provides two mixes and the Body Mix sounds like Front 242 with a female vocalist.
Gloom writes that Hollow Mind is “a song about losing yourself to your dark side after experiencing difficult events. Instead of focusing on vengeance or hurting others, I took this perfect opportunity to express my feelings through some form of art, it’s very cathartic.”
