A Brighter Summer Day is the first release from Well Whale in four years. Unsurprisingly there is some change in musical style with a departure from the indie stroke jangle pop/c86/creation records influences of the past and a move into much poppier territory. The fay like vocals stand out over the listenable mix of twee and mid 80s Sophisti-pop. It’s not too far from what their compatriots Pop At Summer are currently doing to be fair.
