New Greek band The Vaxtones are somewhat of a supergroup as they comprise members of The Last Drive, Scopitone, The Hi Rollers, Raindogs, Xaxakes, Film, Maximum High and The Earthbound.
Never Ending Story is the band’s debut single, and it is a fine blend of 1960s inspired pop that has met C86 on a night out. I hear hints of everything between The Kinks toThe Flatmates. The female vocals and guitar harmonies both reflect the upbeat and happy feel of the song. You will be hard pressed to find a finer indiepop debut single this year.
The band consists of Eleni Tzavara, Thanos Amorginos, Christos Zois, Panagiotis Loukoumas, Nikos Fotiou and Dimitris Voglis and they will be releasing their debut album in April. The album can be ordered from Old Bad Habits.
