London’s Panic Pocket bring the sound and the style of the female fronted acts who recorded for Cherry Red Records in the early 1980s right bang up to date. The way they dress in the video for their new single, and title track of their forthcoming new album, Mad Half Hour reminds me of Tracy Thorn, The Marine Girls and erm, Sharon, amongst others. It’s a great accompaniment to the post-punk infused pop song that is “a tongue-in-cheek tribute to a 90s icon who turned Girl Power into a slogan”.
