Kindsight – Madhouse Breakout Multitool

I wonder what goes through the minds of a band when they create a song? I know, “let’s write a song about the true story where two brothers board up their countryside house to protect themselves from a breakout at the local madhouse. It’s a bygone era when you could escape from such a place.” And use the word madhouse too, no doubt. And if you are wondering, yes, that is what the new song from Kindsight is all about. Well, it makes a change from unrequited love, I guess.

Madhouse Breakout Multitool, despite the song title and subject, is a lovely twee inspired, and at times, delicate pop song. The harmonious joint vocals work really well and whilst Nina Hyldgaard Rasmussen’s vocals get a bit squeaky (helium like?) at times, it adds to the song’s charms. Well it worked for Claire Grogan! I will be surprised if you hear a more distinctive indiepop/twee pop single this year. Most good.

Madhouse Breakout Multitool is out now via Rama Lama Records.
