Three different dreampop tracks to start the week off with which should last the next few days at least!
Lilac – Crystalline
Lilac are from Stockholm and their second single this year is a precursor to the forthcoming debut album There’s Someone Else in My Skin. It’s a jangling dreampop track that at times sounds like a blend of two separate tracks thanks to the intense jangling guitars and vocal style. It should not work but it does and effectively so.
Allwax – Future Life
Future Life is the Austin based Allwax’s second single. Like the first single, April’s Deja Vu, it’s another solid example of sweeping ethereal dreampop. If Dead Can Dance tinkered with shoegaze they may well have sounded like this.
Lucid Express – Lime
Hong based Lucid Express release their new EP Floret in October. It features four new tracks plus remixes of each. Lime is the lead track and in it’s natural state is a pleasant enough shoegazing track. I prefer the Elliott Frazier remix which gives it a much harsher but atmospheric sound. It doesn’t sound a million miles away from what Pinkshinyultrablast used to produce. Floret can be pre-ordered from here.
