Italia 90, who originally are from Brighton but now based in South London, have impressed with a series of edgy and political tracks/EP’s these past couple of years. I have previously compared them musically to the likes of The Fall and The Ruts although I suspect the latter inspires some of the band’s style especially the vocalist.
After releases on the likes of Box Records, Fierce Panda and Permanent Creeps the band are now recording for Brace Yourself Records and Borderline is their first release for the label. The guitars are snappy whilst the vocals are brusque and the angry words that are spat out waste no time cutting to the chase. It’s a strike!
Borderline, backed with Declare, is out on limited vinyl on April 16th 2021. The vinyl pre-orders have sold out on Bandcamp but copies are still available at Rough Trade and Recordstore. It can also be pre-ordered digitally from Bandcamp.
