Gingerlys – Jumprope EP

Any record featuring female vocals and fuzzy guitars is going to be a winner in my book and the debut EP from Gingerlys is no exception especially on Summer Cramps which could develop into a terrace chant. I think this EP will be on permanent play for a while. The Jumprope EP is released next week on Shelflife Records on 7″ vinyl and digital formats. Pre-order it here. You can get free live/demo versions of some of the EP from here and here. Facebook Continue reading Gingerlys – Jumprope EP

When Nalda Became Punk – Indiepop or Whatever! EP

The Fireworks – Runaround

The contenders for song of the year keep on coming. Originally sounding like a Subway Organisation tribute act (and there is definately nothing wrong with that in my view!) The Fireworks have totally expanded beyond that original pigeonhole and have now gone further musically more than I imagined they ever could after witnessing one of their first ever live shows a couple of years back. The mix between Emma’s vocals, the melodies that scream pop at ya and the fuzzy guitars are simply sublime. Simply put I love this! It’s on on 7″ and mp3 via Shelflife Records. Pre-order here. … Continue reading The Fireworks – Runaround

The Fireworks – Higher and Higher

I have mentioned The Fireworks debut self titled EP previously. They have now released a video for the lead track “Higher and Higher”. They also have a change of drummer. Carys has rejoined the reformed (or should that be revitalised?) Give It Ups and has been replaced by Shaun Charman who used to play in The Wedding Present and The Popguns. The EP can be purchased via the label. Homepage Continue reading The Fireworks – Higher and Higher
