The opening fifteen seconds of Sent To Saltcoats suggest we could have a Northern Soul floor stomper on our hands before it merges with a jangling indiepop sound. Flip side Time On The Clock is full of rhyming guitars that bounce along in conjunction with frontman Brian’s strong and distinctive vocals. An excellent single all round. Indiepop legends The Flatmates, albeit with a new line up, release their first single in 23 years on 24th August. Entitled You Held My Heart it’s backed with One Lass Kiss and is available on 7″ via the Archdeacon Of Pop Records. As for that revised line up the band now comprise of original members Martin (guitar) and Rocker (keyboards) as well as newcomers Lisa (vocals), Verity (bass) and Brian (Drums).
