This weeks pack of three features three recent post-punk releases that are inspired by synth-pop. Handful of Snowdrops – The Four Winds Canadian post-punk veterans Handful of Snowdrops return with their first new material since 2018’s excellent Noir album. The Four Winds errs on the side of poppier side of synth-pop whilst Tail Sails is a moody, atmospheric instrumental track. I have been enjoying the EPs released this year by one man outfit Холодный звонок which roughly translates as Cold Calling. His (Dmitry Scherbakov) music is on the poppier side of coldwave and there are four synth-pop tracks here including two cover versions of originals by – well I haven’t a clue to be honest. The songs are energetic and lively despite being resplendent with words sung in a dour vocal style.
