Anyone remember The Cavalcade? Their single Meet You In The Rain has to be one of indiepop’s most defining moments of the past five years. Sadly after an album back in 2010 the band slipped from view but now two ex members, Stephen and Craig ,have resurfaced as The Castle Forever. The excellent song writing and melodies remian but it’s very much a lo-fi project – no drum machine this time around! Homepage Continue reading The Castle Forever
Finnmark! are a Scandinavian obsessed indiepop outfit from Leeds who have a penchant for a good tune. Maybe you are considering a move to Sweden with them? Considering A Move To Sweden Brännö Continue reading Finnmark!
As Long As I Have You is the lovely new single from Sweden’s Alpaca Sports following on from last years excellent releases. They are pretty good live too. We put them on at Sleeping Today in November last year for their first ever British show and it was of my favourite performances of 2012. No hint of bias there either I hasten to add! Continue reading Alpaca Sports – As Long As I Have You
Literature have released a new single earlier this month. They sound a bit like Voxtrot (whatever happened to them?) combined with a 1980’s British indie sound. You can pick up a physical copy from Square Of Opposition Records. Last years Arab Spring album is one of my most favourite albums I have downloaded from Bandcamp to date. It’s pretty impressive stuff if indiepop shakes your thang! Homepage Continue reading Literature – Tie Dye/Apples
One band I have been playing a lot of recently is Brighton based five piece Tyrannosaurus Dead especially this track taken from 2011’s self titled release. Guts is taken from a cassette release on Reeks of Effort Records last year. Lemonade was also released by the label above. The band have just joined the Oddbox Records stable and will be releasing a six track EP in May entitled Pure // Apart . Sadie is the first track to be previewed Continue reading Tyrannosaurus Dead
I found the flip sides (can you have that on a digital single?) to be much more interesting than the main single itself specifically the track Minor Detail. There is more than enough here to warrant either streaming or picking up the album in due course. Homepage Continue reading Dumb Talk – Stay
An enjoyable and noisy indiepop romp via the flexi disc release. No idea where they are from but I am guessing Peru maybe seeing as they are signed to Plastilina Records. You can contact them about ordering the release via their bandcamp page as it is not yet available digitally (soon pretty please). Homepage Continue reading Eva & John – Cesar Gutierrez
