I am not sure if quirky Norwegian indiepopsters are getting a theme going but hot on the heels of their UFO single comes another, this time about being on the moon. It’s metaphorical of course, describing a relationship going from going nowhere to vibrantly going forward. Or it could be simply about viewing the sun from the moon. Candace – Still Phase

Candace have announced their new album will be released at the end of May 2020. It’s titled Ideal Corners and includes the leading single DM-100 and the second single Still Phase, which has just been released today. Starting off slowly with 1960s girl band influences the track soon turns into a fuzzy pop effort complete with droning and reverb laden guitars. Various Artists – New Wave Of Hype

Indonesian label Dismantled have put together a compilation featuring five bands on their roster covering songs by The Wake. The first three songs are taken from The Wake’s output on Sarah Records whilst the final two tracks are taken from releases on Scan 45 and Factory Records. They are pretty good efforts. Les Mains Immaculees cover of Carbrain works really well as does The Sensitives’ gruff cover On Our Honeymoon.
