As I hurtle towards the end of my fifth decade on planet earth I am still keen to be reminded of the fuzzy and noisy indiepop which emerged out of punk, new wave and power-pop that I fell in love with via fanzines, flexi discs, John Peel in the 1980s.
Think Bubblegum Splash, The Charlottes, Bubblegum Lemonade, Shop Assistants, Fizzbombs, early MBV, The Primitives, The Rosehips and many more besides. It’s still my favourite style of music and thanks to the likes of Indonesia’s Tossing Seeds (and many of their compatriots it has to be said) there is still plenty to excite these old ears.
These two tracks here (hear?) encapsulate all what I have just written and I have been playing these two tracks to death since I first heard them. There is no need for me to say anything else about them although a 7″ single (flexi disc?) would be nice. Play loud and skip around to your hearts, and ears, content.
