Echoberyl – Fading Away

The new single from the Paris based Echoberyl takes its inspiration from cult Sci-Fi series The Twilight Zone. The band write that Fading Away is “about meeting someone you lost a long time ago. A song about dealing with absence and death.” No surprise then that it’s an atmospheric track twisting between the dark, moody and melancholic. In between the synths, there is some nice Peter Hook inspired style bass too.

It’s backed with a number of mixes. The Alternative Reality version emphasises the original, and there is more than a hint of the Twilight Zone theme tune in there. The B-Dub remix is packed with heavy dance floor beats, with the vocals hauntingly placed in the background. The aforementioned bass comes to the fore on the Shado Remix with more inspiration from the Twilight Zone theme thrown in. The final remix is an extended version of the Alternative Reality version.

There is plenty here amongst spread amongst the various mixes for fans of a darker shade of synth-pop. Fading Away is out now via Mother Solitude Records.
