Univers hail from Barcelona and on their debut album L’Estat Natural they initially suggest to me that they are a Catalan version of a Sea Monsters era Wedding Present. However subsequent listens suggest they are poppier than that with more than a state side slant. The sulky vocals, crashing guitars and the pulsating drive in each song more than make up for the fact that, unless you speak Catalan, you have no idea what they are singing about. Music is a univers (al) language indeed. Excellent stuff.
