Happy international workers day one and all. After a very busy week the long weekend was just the tonic. Still time to reflect on our union predecessors sacrifices mind. A strong selection of tunes to kick the week off.

The Muldoons – Audacity
Trumpets and guitars collide on this retro sounding new single, and the first for a while, from Paisley’s The Muldoons. It’s out now Last Night From Glasgow.
BMX Bandits Feat. Anton Newcombe & Hifi Sean – Razorblades & Honey
Originally found on the BMX Bandits Forever Razorblades & Honey gets a “dancey” make over from original band member and Soup Dragons front man Sean Dickson aka Hi-Fi Sean. It’s out now via Elefant Records.
Teens In Trouble – I’m Not Worried
I’m Not Worried reminds me of the American bands that 4AD used to have on their roster such as The Breeders, The Amps and The Pixies. You will find this one on Asian Man Records.
Baston – Zodiac
Zodiac is taken from the forthcoming album La Martyre which will be released via Howlin’ Banana Records on May 13 2022. Komische driven post-punk/indie rock.
Hoach5000 – Paper Bag
Taken from the Final EP, which is out now on Testcard Records, paper Bag is a slab of melodic shoegaze which, thankfully, is not quite or fuzzy enough to be a MBV clone although the band have used those influences to great effect.
Buddhist Bubblegum – Paper Ridges
Taken from the forthcoming Dreaming of The Desert album Paper Ridges is a mix between fuzzy and jangle pop with a hefty dose of 1960s pop influences.
Smile – What a Heart Is For
1960s Janglepop seems to be the rage today with the Italian band Smile fully embracing that description on their catchy new single What a Heart Is For.
Ghost Fever – When Reasons End
Taken from the current Here Comes the Neighbor EP the West Java based band describe their music as being influenced “equally by jangle pop, ballad and indie-rock sound”. When Reasons End errs towards the indiepop/tweepop side of things. The EP is out now on cassette via Leeds Records or digitally from the band.
Display Homes – CCTV
A post-punk cracker taken from the forthcoming album What If You’re Right & They’re Wrong? which will be released via Erste Theke Tontrager on July 22 2022.
Deflated Lovers – Shallow Breathing
Ethereal shoegaze courtesy of Gateshead’s Deflated Lovers. The Cocteau Twins influences are hard to ignore but the band do their best to stamp their own identity on the track. Most good.
