Wittering from an old indie kid whether it's c86, indiepop, jangle pop, post-punk, coldwave, shoegaze or dreampop!
It was one of the excellent shows from Emmas House Music that put me onto K. Campbell and his excellent Head’s Up single from February this year. Campbell has now followed that single up with two more bursts of power-pop that should get your feet tapping as a bare minimum.
On Chords Come Easy it’s the words that Campbell that struggles with as he sings “cuz i’d rather waste my time than have nothing to say” as the guitars fuzz and buzz. However it’s on Static Threads that Campbell impresses the most, both lyrically and musically with the guitars towards the end reminding me of Ian Broudie. It’s a lovely song that prompts me to think where it will be on those end of year lists!
Chords Come Easy/Static Threads is out now on 7″ vinyl, cassette and digital formats from here.
